COVID 19 – update

Dear All

As you all may know, the Government has today given updated advice concerning the spread of COVID-19.  As a result, all Guild / District events will unfortunately have to be cancelled or postponed. We will keep an eye on the situation but we do not expect any events to take place for at least 6 or 8 weeks possibly longer. The Crawford Cup final will likely be moved to the autumn.  Please keep an eye out for posters, emails, posts on Facebook and website updates telling you when things are starting up again.

As a Guild, we are not giving advice on how individual churches deal with practices, service ringing or visiting bands but hope the tower officers will discuss with the church and take appropriate steps and that ringers will all stay safe and well through this difficult period.

Don’t forget ringing apps and books so that you can retain & develop your skills during this enforced break in practical sessions.

Look after yourselves and each other

All best wishes

Jim

COVID-19

Given the situation across the country, with the agreement of the management and general committees, the following is our current position:·

The AGM WILL BE POSTPONED or cancelled. At present there are no contested officers so elections would not be required.· Guild meetings will be considered on a case by case basis and all members are encouraged to keep an eye on the website and Facebook for updates.

Districts should keep in touch with local contacts, as incumbents or churchwardens may wish to reduce the number of events happening at any particular church including ringing meetings. The website and Facebook should be used to maintain regular contact with as many members as possible.

The Central Council of Church Bell Ringers is monitoring things and the advice is “Many people are concerned about the effects of the current Coronavirus outbreak and what impact that has on us and our ringing activities. Whilst the CCCBR cannot offer any professional medical advice, we would recommend that you adopt sensible precautions and follow the advice from the Chief Medical Officer.” There is slightly more detail on the website page https://cccbr.org.uk/2020/03/12/coronavirus-covid-19/
