With sadness we record the death of Fiona M Walters on 11th January 2026, her 75th birthday.

Fiona served as Nottingham District secretary in 1974, Bingham District Ringing Master in 1978 and Bingham District secretary 1982 -1987.

Have a go on 12 bells at Rotherham Minster!
Given the success of the last two “have a go on 10 bells” sessions, I’ve booked Rotherham minster for people to “have a go on 12 bells”. Like the previous events, we will mainly be ringing rounds, call changes and plain hunt.
Date: Saturday 12 October 2024
Time: 2:30pm to 4:30pm
Location: Rotherham minster
Car parking: Drummond Street car park has free parking all weekend. It is then a 5-10 minute walk to the Minster.
So if anyone would like to try ringing on 12 then please do come along. The event is not run by any particular guild or district. It is just organised to suit travelling/location.
This will be the last “have a go” event for 2024. No decision has been made on whether to rerun them in 2025 yet. Depends if people enjoy them and want them run again.
Any queries, let me know.
Melanie
We are sorry to have to bring you the sad news that Lynda Lazzerini, a long time ringer at Whatton in the Vale, and member of the Guild, has died following an illness.
Our thoughts are with David and Anne. David would prefer not to deal with messages for a short time.
Lynda requested there should not be a funeral but, to celebrate Lynda’s life, there will be a day of ringing, in due course.
With sadness we have to report the passing of another of our members, Phil E Jones passed
away on Thursday 25 July 2024.
Phil’s funeral will be on Monday, 19th August at 1.15pm, at Rushcliffe Oaks Crematorium.
Main Rd, Stragglethorpe, Nottingham NG12 2PY
There will be a (lay) celebrant, and no religious content, as Phil wished.
No mourning dress. Donations for Cancer Research UK.
There will not be a wake afterwards as the family wish to quietly return home.
Phil became a member of the Southwell Diocesan Guild in 1968, ringing at St Leonard’s
Wollaton. He was Tower Captain there 1970- 1973.
He served as Tower Captain at West Bridgford 1981 -1989.
He joined the band at St Mary’s Nottingham in 1991 and was a member there until his
death. He was Tower Captain 2002- 2007 and deputy for a number of years subsequently
finally stepping down in 2023.
